Ukrainian Energy Study

In 2015 KT-Energy prepared “Ukrainian Energy Study” for one of the leading power generation equipment manufacturer with detailed analysis of Ukrainian thermal power generation sector. The study covered all thermal power plants and major CHP plants in Ukraine with the focus on technical characteristics of the equipment, fuel mix used and efficiency, as well as air emissions and availability of air quality control technologies. The study also described current status and development perspectives of Ukrainian power grid, situation with fuel supply for power generation and national policy in energy sector.

Assignment Description

Ukrainian Energy Study covered the following aspects of Ukrainian electricity market:

  • General description of Ukrainian energy system, including generation capacity, power generation volumes, grid development, fuel supply, etc.;
  • Current status of major thermal power generation facilities in Ukraine, including thermal power plants, CHP units, and biomass fired power plants;
  • State policy of Ukraine with regard to power generation sector;
  • Air quality control systems at Ukrainian thermal power plants and CHP units and Ukraine’s obligations to reduce air emissions from large combustion plants.
